I'll give you something to eat if you take me for a ride!
I have several animal companions in the house where I live, four humans, three dogs and two other birds. My cage is in the living room and that is where the two big dogs spend most of their time. Sleeping on the sofas. Or they will sniff around the base of my cage looking for things I have dropped. Cleo the Lab likes seeds; well she is a bird dog. Duchess likes to eat the cereal I have dropped. This gave me an idea. When my lady comes home from work she lets me go on my play stand. This means I am even closer to the dogs. So I waited until Duchess came back into the room. I took a piece of my cereal and dropped it on the floor. Sure enough she came over to see what it was. I when down the to base of my play stand as fast as I could before she walked away, and jumped on her back. Wa Hooo! She started running in circles, but I held on tight. My lady came over and lifted me off and put me back on my stand. Well now, who is smarter dogs or birds? My guess birds, of course! So would she fall for this again? Yep! Got her a second time. Now during this Cleo was watching what was going on. So I wondered if she would fall for the same thing. I dropped a piece of cereal off the other side of the stand. Yes! She came over to see what it was. Again I ran down to the bottom of the play stand and jumped on her back. She sat down! Do you believe that, she sat down. I wanted to go for a ride. She just gave my lady that look; you know the "get it off look". Again I was taken back to the play stand. I have attempted this a few more times but I think they are catching on to me.
But I don't want it to swing!
I got a new perch today. It's a branch that hangs from the top of my cage. It's really neat and I like sitting on it but there is only one problem. It swings! First, I pushed on it real hard until it was stuck in the bars of my cage. But it keeps getting un-stuck. So I thought about it real hard, how could I stop it from swinging?
This took a couple of days! I was given some shoelaces to play with and I used them to tie it down. First I looped the lace thru the top of the cage then down around the branch several times. Then tied it around the rope perch to help secure it. I then wrapped around the branch some more and thru my happy hut. This did the job and that branch wasn't going to swing anywhere. That's until cage cleaning day! You know I should have thought twice before I ran the lace thru my happy hut. Silly me I forgot it get washed on Sundays. She took it all apart! The whole thing! Just to wash my happy hut. It did take her almost 15 minutes to get it all undone. I'm not sure what she meant when she said I earned my Bird Scout Knot Tying Badge. Now I have to start over!
